HoneyLove Homestead LLC / Far Land Fungi is looking to hire both part and full-times employees for the 2022 season. Starting in April, ending in October, weather dependent.
Main duties include everything needed to bring mushrooms and flowers from spore/seed to sale; including mushroom lab work / sterilizing / inoculating / harvesting / delivering, flower sowing / planting / weeding / mulching / weeding / harvesting / weeding / processing / sales (and weeding).
This job requires physical labor in all weather conditions. You will get a farmer tan, your clothes will get dirty, and your body will know you put in a full day’s work.
We are a small crew, and each person has an integral role to play. We ask that you make the commitment for the entire season.
In addition to on-farm work, the farmer’s market is an equally important part of our business, and excellent customer service skills are a must. In 2022 we will be at the Kendall Yards & Garland Markets every Wednesday & Thursday May 25th -Sept 21st, 2022. You will be responsible for attending some farmers market shifts.
An ideal candidate possesses the following:
-An interest in mushrooms & flower farming, urban farming, and/or horticulture.
-At least one season’s farm, gardening, garden center, landscaping, or horticulture experience.
-Reliable transportation.
-Strong work ethic, self-motivated, and the ability to work independently.
-A quick learner who pays attention to detail.
-Ability to work in all weather conditions, including the rain of spring, heat of summer, and the cold rain of fall.
-Ability to lift 60 pounds repeatedly, as well as perform other physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, etc.
-Skilled in small engine operation (weed whacker, lawnmower, small tiller, etc.)

After we review your application, we may schedule a brief phone interview (15-20 minutes). We may then schedule a trial work session (one half-day up to one full week) on our farm. The trial work session is an opportunity for us to evaluate each other while doing real work. It is the most important way we judge applicants, and the most important way for you to decide if this will be the job for you.
